The Aqualopers swam past the visiting Morningside Mustangs in their final home meet, 145-76, Friday afternoon at the Cushing Pool. This meet was the second to last invite before the RMAC Championships in San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 19-21.
The win for the Aqualopers was the third of the year at home, and for a couple of swimmers, proved to be a good warm-up in preparation for San Antonio.
For freshman swimmer Heather Glodt of Oberlin, Kan., her stellar freshman campaign continued as she won the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke, with all three times her season best and top 10 fastest in school history. Glodt is also the reigning RMAC Female Swimmer of the Week.
"Heather has been a key facet to this team's success," said Kim Ellicott, a freshman diver from Bartley. "Her swimming these past few weeks has really elevated the team to a level that we weren't on at the beginning of the year."
On the diving side, Lincoln junior Annie Moyer took home wins in both the one-meter and three-meter events.
The Aqualopers will be sending several swimmers and divers to an event next weekend in Vermillion, S.D., while the rest of the team is off until the RMAC Championships.
"The team did great against Morningside in our last home meet," Ellicott said. "I feel that the team is prepared as we head into the RMAC Championships."
