Expectations are high for the 2008 UNK volleyball and football teams.

The volleyball team was picked to win the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title in the preseason coaches' poll, receiving 12 of the 14 first-place votes to finish ahead of Metro State, Fort Lewis and Western New Mexico.

The Lopers, who finished last season 33-5 and 17-2 in the RMAC, also swept the individual awards.

Middle blocker Nikki Scott was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, defensive specialist Kelli Wemhoff was selected Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Cola Svec was chosen Preseason Setter of the Year.

Scott and fellow middle blocker Jeri Walkowiak represent UNK on the Preseason All-RMAC Team.

The Lopers, ranked No. 14 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Poll, begin their season Thursday at the Honolulu Invitational.
