WANTED: quirky, spontaneous, energetic students with musical skills. This ad might as well be printed on all the members of the UNK Pep Band.

Over the years, the pepband has held the honor of providing musical, as well as vocal entertainment at all Loper basketball games. "Louie, Louie," "Hey, Baby!" and "American Band" are a few of the UNK Pep Band's favorite tunes.

Members of this prestigious group live the life of a normal college student. This means going through the routine of waking up, getting dressed and going to classes, but when the clock strikes six, the pepband is ready to rock n' roll.

Before the game even begins, members are set up and ready to go. Some might even play a few random notes that sound like garbled music as they drift through the gym.

When the action starts, members of the UNK Pep Band jump up and down, cheer with the cheerleaders, and do whatever they can to support the Lopers in their quest for success.

Wherever the basketball teams travel, the band often follows. About thirty members followed the men's and women's teams to Pueblo, Colo. for the RMAC tournaments on March 7-8.

The band acted as the main cheering section for the Lopers, and also received national attention. Photographers, news cameras and Division II Athletics mascot, J.J. Jumper, all had something to say about the pep band.

Members will be in attendance this week on March 27 and 29 as UNK hosts the Division II Elite Eight Tournament. Listen for the music and the band will be found.

"The band is gonna bring it," says junior pep band member Mackenzie Cochran. "We know the Lopers will too."
